Spot clean only. Blot a mark with a clean, barely damp cloth and let it dry naturally — no washing, no soaking and no bleach, because wool and cotton felt and distort once properly wet. Every few months, shake the hanging out or vacuum it on the lowest suction through a mesh guard to lift settled dust from the weave. Slubs, small irregularities and a little loose fibre shedding are part of a handwoven piece and settle within the first weeks. Keep it off damp external walls and out of direct sun, which fades natural dyes unevenly across the face. Hang from the dowel so the weight sits along the top edge rather than on individual loops, and never pull on the fringe to straighten it — comb it through with your fingers instead. Fold along its own creases if you ever store it.

At 60 × 90 cm this hangs from a dowel rather than a frame, so it sits flat against the wall with a little natural movement. Because the weight hangs from the top edge, mount the dowel rather than a single centre point, and fix into a stud or use a proper wall plug at each end; two fixings keep the dowel level and stop the weave pulling to one side. Set the top edge 165–175 cm from the floor, which puts the body of the piece at eye level and leaves the fringe clear of furniture. Above a sofa or bed, aim for pieces around 90–135 cm wide. Give it more breathing room than a framed print: leave 15–20 cm to any neighbouring work, because texture needs space to read. Let it settle for a day or two before adjusting anything.
