Woven cotton is the easiest fabric here to live with. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colours and a mild liquid detergent, skipping bleach and fabric softener — softener flattens the weave and dulls the surface texture you paid for. Wash it on its own the first time in case the dye moves. Tumble on low or, better, line dry in the shade and finish it flat; sustained high heat shrinks cotton and weakens the yarn over time. Warm-iron on the reverse if you want it sharp. Where the piece carries fringe or tassels, wash it inside a mesh bag so the trim does not tangle, then comb the strands straight with your fingers while they are damp. Blot spills rather than scrubbing, which fuzzes the weave. Pull any snagged thread through to the back instead of cutting it. Keep the piece out of prolonged direct sun, which fades natural dyes unevenly.
